PINOCCHIO CHILDREN'S LIBRARY
Our proposal for Pinocchio Children's park and library is inspired by the form of historic Collodi Village and its surrounding context. The winding roadways surrounding Collodi have been interpreted at a macro scale and reintroduced as scaled down 'zig-zag' - like pathways which meander through the site. The bending points of the pathways are like the joints of a marionette each connection serves as a setting for an outdoor exhibition park. These are spaces where children and adults can enjoy their outdoor experience, complementing the Parco de Pinochhio, an existing children's park adjacent to the proposal site.
In addition to the outdoor park component, the building mass is divided into two main volumes on either side of the river. The proposal is a collage of 'Collodi Village' , an architecture layered, extrapolated and integrated with the outdoor exhibition space.
The existing paper factory will be restored to house cafeteria spaces featuring views of the outdoor exhibition park and its new facilities.
